Simon Messenger

Simon Messenger is the CEO of 1Planet Advisory, a sustainable finance and sustainability reporting consultancy.

He is a Market Engagement Fellow to the IFRS Foundation where he works on corporate, investor and regulatory engagement related to the International Sustainability Standards Board (ISSB) with a particular focus on Europe and Africa. He currently also works as a technical advisor to the United Nations Environment Programme where is the Implementation Lead for the Net Zero Banking Alliance (NZBA).

He has over 15 years of sustainability-related technical and professional experience and has held a number of senior roles in the broader field of sustainability reporting and sustainable finance, having been Managing Director of the Climate Disclosure Standards Board (CDSB) and Director of the 2 Degrees Investing Initiative (2Dii). He was also previously Head of Consulting at the Energy Saving Trust and a sustainability consultant at PwC and Deloitte. Simon holds a Masters with Distinction in Ecological Economics and a First Class BSc (Hons) in Environmental Geoscience, both from the University of Edinburgh.
